They sure know how to grill food!



*Greek Taverna: Greek; Edgewater; 55 Promenade @ River Rd; 22/18/$35; 201-945-8998;; The price is right; The selection is huge- particularly the appetizers; The food is excellent; Having a grilled whole fish may be way to go; It is BYO; Open kitchen adds an air of class to the otherwise laid back mini-chain. Lamb chops stand out as well. Has Grilled Calamari! Large portions.



Santorini Taverna: Greek; Fort Lee; 2020 Central Rd @ Main; 22/18/$39; 201-947-2055;; About 15 tables, nice blue painted walls – Greek feel;  Has nice outdoor area;  Large menu of Greek classics;  Lots of grilled items available including lamb, and various whole fish; Full bar and outdoor patio in warmer months; More casual dishes at lunch; Upscale quality and authentic.  Very large menu including the classics.  Grilled Calamari.



Sofia’s Mediterranean Grill: Mediterranean; Hasbrouck Heights; 24/16/$36; 201-462-0123; RAVE reviews;  BYO; Grilled Calamari; Amazing Dips;  Grilled Feta appetizer; Gyro platters are mouthwatering; Grilled Pork Chops; Seafood Medley includes grilled calamari, shrimp and octopus over rice;  Moussaka, Pastichio on the menu.  Lots of desserts;  Closed Sunday but otherwise open for lunch & dinner.



Angelo’s Greek Taverna: Mediterranean; Maywood; 245 Maywood Av; 23/18/$44; 201-845-4278; Rave reviews for this casual Greek restaurant which features a large assorted menu; Known for amazing Greek fries, Gyro platters, Souvlaki and their spreads;  Probably better for lunch as it is casual.  Extremely good pricing anyone can afford.  Not a fancy spot but reliable & well liked by locals. BYO.



Mykonos: Greek; North Arlington; 440 Ridge Rd; 24/17/$37; 201-991-5055;;   Menu is fantastic and food quality very high for this local neighborhood favorite;  The assorted App platter for just $15 includes 6 kinds of dips and stuffed grape leaves. Grilled Calamari, Seafood Orzo, and fantastic versions of Moussaka and Pastichio stand out. Give it a try!  Very casual setting.



*Greek Village: Greek; Northvale; 254 Livingston St; 26/14/$35; 201-750-8570; Local favorite; Small in size with about 15 tables; BYO; Hummus, spanakopita, chicken souvlaki, and gyros stand out; Very inexpensive and delicious; Fabulous for a neighborhood joint. Absolutely rave reviews from locals. Diamond in the rough- go early for a table.  Family owned; Grilled calamari;  Less crowded for lunch. Take out popular here. Greek salad. 



Greek Corner Grill: Greek; Park Ridge; 99 Park Av; 24/17/$36; 201-476-1400;; Fantastic family run business with super friendly service;  Menu includes Grilled Calamari; Stuffed Shrimp; Saganaki; Pan seared meatballs; Any 4 spreads; Gyros and Souvlakis; Rack of Lamb; Grilled Shrimp and the usual Greek classics; BYO;  Can’t go wrong here and you will feel at home.  Casual – not fancy. Very cheap.

What a menu!!  Casual setting.

Manhattan feel in Ramsey; Top of the line service and ambiance. Large menu for a gourmet place. Serve King Crab Legs. Grilled Calamari. Top Greek restaurant in Bergen Cty. 201 Mag winner for  Best Greek, Seafood, & Mediterranean.  Raw bar with shellfish;  Lobster – done 6 ways.



Mediterraneo’s: Mediterranean; Ridgewood; 23 N Broad St; 23/19/$45; 201-447-0022; Reliable regional fare; Great outdoor seating in the spring and summer; Phyllo rolls, Falafel, Lamb dishes delish; Cuisine influenced by Greece and Turkey; BYO; Even has a Spanish Tapas menu – outstanding;  Located in a ‘cute’ welcoming street in always nice Ridgewood. Offer 3 menus- tapas specials, 1 for fresh fish & 1 for featured entrees. Bronzino & Paellas stand out. 201 Mag Best Med.;



Babylon: Mediterranean; River Edge; 606 Kinderkamack @ Monroe; 20/16/$31; 201-646-0005;; Regional fare with a Turkish slant; BYO policy; Nothing fancy but great service; Food is always consistently good and reliable; Great menu featuring Lamb shank; Kebabs; Huge combo plates and various types of hummus. Pick 4 appetizers for $16.95. Café and deli attached to property. Calamari is fried- c’mon man!



*Axia Taverna: Greek; Tenafly; 18 Piermont Rd; 24/23/$48; 201-569-5999;; Upscale bi-level Greek house of goodness; Beautiful setting; Large, mouth-watering menu; As good as Greek gets; Live music on Tuesdays; Date or night out with the parents. They nail it- décor, food and service all tops. Reviews on Yelp and other sites off the charts. Try sautéed shrimp over risotto. Full bar. The fresh whole fish stand out.
