RESTAURANTS *All restaurants are listed BY CUISINE and then within each cuisine section, LISTED GEOGRAPHICALLY in Manhattan, counterclockwise from the Upper West Side to Upper East Side. Or.... simply by NEIGHBORHOOD. Click on the tab you prefer for ease of searching!! When searching by cuisine, you can at the same time search by location!!! *The references to Zagat’s are as follows: Food/décor/price; Phone numbers start out 212 unless otherwise noted. Also, Click on the Restaurant HYPERLINK (name of the restaurant) to go to the restaurant's website OR an article about the restaurant - whatever was available at the last update! *The restaurants are the BEST of the best. To make my list you have to be reviewed heavily by multiple on line sources. Often, a combination of TOP reviews from Zagats, Citysearch, NY Magazine, Time Out New York, and various other publications. Also, myself or one of my staff have visited each place on this list. Must be top quality. BARS The bars are LISTED GEOGRAPHICALLY by Neighborhood. In almost every case, they are in order of how they appear so you'll know what other bars you are near to!! For instance, if you click on the Upper West Side, the bars will appear in order from 100th street to 60th Street. I suggest printing off the list and sticking it in your back pocket! Stores ALSO arranged by neighborhood, and LISTED GEOGRAPHICALLY within each neighborhood to greatest extent possible. This is great because you can Print Out a list of markets for a certain neighborhood and see which stores are Near the store you first chose to visit!!! Please also note that most places listed have HYPERLINKS to the webpage of the stores. More Boring Ramblings About the Site (non-essential) Essentially, the entire goal of this project is as follows. I'll never be able to keep up with Zagats or CitySearch or even the New York Times in terms of thoroughness and detail. What I can promise you is this... insightfull information; the BEST of the best; and an easy to find resource for your NY entertainment needs. I truly believe that once you decide to 'go out' you don't want to spend 10 hours sifting through dozens of restaurant reviews. You know WHAT you want to eat.. OR, at least, you know WHERE you want to eat it. I have sorted these restaurant pages by cuisine type and geography. The Bars and Gourmet Market pages by Neighborhood and then Geographically within each 'Hood. Then... once you know where or what type of food.... you don't need 10 Million choices. I've done all the work for you. I have limited each cuisine type to a limited number of selection of choices to make your life easy. Same thing with the Bars and Gourmet Markets...
Must be Zagats 20+ OR have been rated as Exceptional by someone in the know. These retaurants are priced moderate to expensive... but all are something a middle class family can afford. No Per Se's on here! Nothing on here where entree's cost $50 a plate. (with a few exceptions) BUT.. no cheapos here either. If you are ok with cheapo food... why bother looking on a restaurant website like this! Over the course of the past 9 years, I have compiled an incredible amount of research regarding New York's top nightlife and shopping experiences. Please WRITE ME with questions, comments, suggestions, praise, critiques, or anything else. This guide is about you and me. I want to take Zagat's to a whole other level. The goal isn't to compile an all inclusive list. It is to come up with a user friendly list of top suggestions. There is no way to cover everything. But, I'll tell you this... all I do is go out to bars and restaurants and most of my friends are the same way. We have put our heads together to come up with the best of the best. What makes my guide better than the others... I'm into everything! You'll find links to restaurants of almost every taste. Bars of all types from dive to high-end lounges to Irish pubs to college to meat markets to upscale wine bars. IDEAS! What else should this page have! I plan on creating Top 10 Lists of the Best of the Best of NYC Entertainment. I want to add info about things to do in NYC on Dates, Summer Events, a full calendar of major NYC activities, the Theater. It is all coming... this will be the Ultimate NYC website.
