*All restaurants in this section BY NEIGHBORHOOD counterclockwise from the Upper West Side to Upper East Side. Not exactly… but very close. You get the idea! Therefore, when searching for a restaurant, you can at the same time search for places near the place you choose to go!!! Each restaurant contains an indication of the Cuisine so you know what each serves if not obvious.
*The references to Zagat’s are as follows: Food/décor/price; Phone numbers start out 212 unless otherwise noted. Also, Click on the Restaurant HYPERLINK (name of the restaurant) to go to the restaurant's website OR an article about the restaurant - whatever was available at the last update!
*I intentionally leave out restaurants that are super expensive ie. Zagat $70 price range or higher (for the most part). Also left out cheapo places and places one can not truly be comfortable bringing family or a date.
Essentially, the entire goal of this project is as follows. I'll never be able to keep up with Zagats or CitySearch or even the New York Times in terms of thoroughness and detail. What I can promise you is this... insightfull information; the BEST of the best; and an easy to find resource for your NY entertainment needs.
I truly believe that once you decide to 'go out' you don't want to spend 10 hours sifting through dozens of restaurant reviews. You know WHAT you want to eat.. OR, at least, you know WHERE you want to eat it. I have sorted these restaurant pages by cuisine type and geography. Then... once you know where or what type of food.... you don't need 10 Million choices. I've done all the work for you. I have limited each cuisine type to a limited number of selection of choices to make your life easy.
The restaurants are the BEST of the best. To make my list you have to be reviewed heavily by multiple on line sources. Also, myself or one of my staff have visited each place on this list. Must be top quality. Must be Zagats 20+ OR have been rated as Exceptional by someone in the know. These retaurants are priced moderate to expensive... but all are something a middle class family can afford. No Per Se's on here! Nothing on here where entree's cost $50 a plate. (with a few exceptions) BUT.. no cheapos here either. If you are ok with cheapo food... why bother looking on a restaurant website like this!
