Hogs & Heifers: Dive Bar. 859 Washington @ W 13th; NYC institution- one of the few left of this genre. Awesome, dirty fun. Gets very very packed. Raunchy and different.  Biker Bar with sexy, slutty dressed bartenders with attitude.  Bras on the ceiling and dozens dancing on the bar. Country music.

 
Plunge - Gansevoort Hotel Bar: Lounge. 18 9th Av @ 13th; Fifteenth floor rooftop bar. Endless hot people but very pricy. Dress well; Singles scene; Incredible views of the Hudson; Romantic when not packed.  Tends to be B&T and reviews mixed – but the view, wow! 


Gaslight: Lounge. 400 W 14th @ 9th Av; Cool looking Elizabethan décor; Spacious but not huge; Sexy singles mingling; Living Room feel; Great stop for a couple. Can get crowded – better off peak. Lesspretentious, fun crowd. Great location.   Happy Hour.


The Cabana @ Maritime Hotel: Lounge. 363 W. 16th @ 9th;  Amazing crowd. Ultra popular. Great scene. 20s-30s; Retro décor; Extremely large place; Outdoors in summer is amazing; Couches, sofas; Professional crowd; Sexy staff.  Late night scene; Expensive drinks.  

 

Hiro Ballroom: Lounge. 366 W. 17th @ 9th: Owned by Maritime Hotel- their late night lounge; Jap themed lounge. Crowded hot spot;  Dancing. Quite upscale; Private parties; Great for a Martini or to stop by. Bottle service scene.


The Park: Lounge; Rooftop bar; 118 10th @ 17th-18th; Gorgeous inside – huge beautiful patio; Tons of different rooms with different music; Celeb spot. Bar area is vast and expansive; Sexy singles and networking; DJ – good music.  Downside is prices and it is a scene- bit pretentious.  

 

Peter McManus: Irish Pub. 152 Seventh Ave @ 19th: Very friendly locals; Great Juke. Neighborhood pub; Buy Backs- cheap drinks; One of the few laid back typical Pubs in the area.  Great food! Family run.


Star Lounge: Lounge. 222 W. 23rd  @ 7th-8th; Under the Chelsea Hotel; Multiple rooms. Dark; Singles; Celeb spot; Table service; Hard to get in at peak hours; Sexy and stylish;  Kind of a labyrinth feel; Good looking crowd.  
 
Trailer Park Lounge: Dive Bar. 271 W 23rd St @ 7th – 8th Av;  Fantastic Margaritas- strong; Southern menu of great food; Fun, inventive drinks;  Happy Hour 4-7pm daily- $3 drafts, $5 margaritas; Cute, friendly staff; High energy.


Jake’s Saloon: Upscale Bar and Grill. 206 W 23rd St @ 7th Ave; Very classy looking space perfect for lunch or a few finely made drinks before an evening out. Happy hour every day. Older crowd.


Westside Tavern: Irish Pub; 360 W 23rd @ 9th: Large, cool Tavern… great starter place or place to hang out pre-Lounging.; Pool in back; Spacious; Drink specials; Buy Backs; Dave Mathew’s fav place.  


Half King: Bar-Restaurant; 505 W 23rd @ 10th; More low key;. Owned by famous author Sebastian Junger; 2/3 restaurant – 1/3 Bar; Outdoor seating; Very hip spot.  Focus on excellent pub food- fresh ingredients. happy hour - $4 drafts.

 
Dusk: Neighborhood Bar. 147 W 24th @ 6-7th Av; Karaoke Mondays; Napkin Idol Tuesdays; Happy Hour people; Great Cosmos.

 
Rogue Bar & Lounge: Bar-Lounge; 757 6th Av @ 25-6th Private Parties; Daily Happy Hour specials; Great Drinks; Good food menu; After work spot; 8 Flat screens; Weekend DJs. Cool 20s-30s crowd; Singles; Fun & low key.  Website is excellent- listing the daily specials.

 
Frying Pan: Waterfront Bar. W 26th @ West Side Highway; Built on a lightship, it is an outdoor bar on the water; Boats docked to the pier nearby stop for a drink; Perfect daytime space/ pre-evening; Great food as well. 


Gstaad: Lounge;; 43 West 26th @ 6th-Bway; Top After Work spot;  Like a ski lodge inside; Lots of room; Good looking crowd;  DJ’s spin music; Gets crowded at night; Starter or full evening place.  Happy hour .


Black Door: Bar/Lounge; 127 W 26 @ 6-7th;  Park Bar in Union Sq ownership; Not pretentious. Check out. Good looking crowd but not packed due to distance from Chelsea; Private parties- large space in back; Strong drinks; No attitude.


Mustang Sally Saloon: Irish pub/ Sports Bar; 324 7th @ 28th; Spacious. Near MSG. Gets crowded when there’s a game. Ideal for a bite to eat or drink pre theatre or a game; Large; Upscale pub.  See brother bar Mustang Harry’s at 352 7th Ave.

 
Triple Crown: Bar & Grill. 300 7th Av @ 28-9th;  Plenty of tables to dine before a game at MSG; Large spacious bar scene as well; Daytime/ lunch/ dinner bar- not a late night spot. TVs; Good food.


Billymark’s West: Dive Bar. 332 9th Av @ 29th; CitySearch’s TOP Dive Bar in area; Great for Pool, Darts; Watch a game; Cheapo Party; Jukebox; Inexpensive; Grunge feel; Locals and mixed crowd. Cheap drinks. Neighborhood bar.


Harrington’s: Sports bar/ Irish pub- Restaurant;  370 7th Av @ 30-1;  Eat or drink here. Near MSG. Great meet a friend for a pint place; Nothing spectacular – solid for a pit stop;  More upscale and clean. Good bartenders. Perfect for a pub lunch.

 
Tempest Bar: Dive/ Sports Bar;407 8th Av @ 30th; Frat party feel; Darts huge here; Meat market; Good Rock Jukebox; Game nights; 20s crowd; Happy Hour/ After work spot; College crowd mostly. 80s Juke.

 
Blarney Stone: Dive Bar. 410 8th Av @ 30-31st; Filled with locals and dirt cheap beer and happy hour specials. True classic. This location the ‘nicest’ of the Blarney chain. Better food than most.

 
Brother Jimmy’s: Dive / Sports Bar. 416 8th Av @ 31st;  Carolina Bar; Incredible Bar-B-Q food; Dirt Cheap beer specials- Happy Hour scene at night; Beer lover’s haven; Fish Bowls with Aligators in them; Just a fun place. 

 

Stout: Irish Pub. 133 W 33rd @ 6-7th Av; Gigantic Irish pub; 32 large screens; 130 beers; Sports bar too;  Monday is Pint & Pizza night - $10;  Karaoke Saturdays in the Cellar; 3 levels- multiple bars; Perfect for huge groups or After work fun;  100+ beers to choose from.

 

Tir Na Nog: Upscale Irish Pub; 5 Penn Plaza- 8th Av @ 33rd: Great bar food; Iffy Service; Tons of beer to choose from; Specials; MSG Give-aways & sponsors often there; Classic upscale Irish pub; Large age range.      


Stitch: Bar/ Lounge. 247 W 37th @ 8th:  Pre MSG event bar. Lots of music and TVs. Great food. Extremely spacious; Sexy crowd for area; Singles scene; Massive place- great for parties; Happy Hour; Excellent pub food.  See website- lots going on. Numerous huge TVs- perfect for a game.
